Why Parkour?
The sport of ADD/Parkour is rapidly spreading, and it becomes increasingly popular in all corners of the globe. There are secondary schools in Britain that has already included the sport in the school-based physical education curriculum, and the results show that it can hugely benefit students both mentally and physically, where it helps learners to discover their true potential, to face fear and challenges rationally, and therefore raising their resilience (and their adversity quotient). In the process, the training trains students to think in extended dimensions and angles. Physically, the sport can help learners to improve in body control and coordination, adjusting to the correct posture while increasing the muscle tension, power and endurance. In the end, the sport can help students to develop their potential and improve themselves in multi-dimensions.
The HKPA is the only organization in Hong Kong that provide training in the Art of displacement, where we have the most experienced and internationally-recognized coaches in the team, every one of each has a certificate in first aid. It can provide proper and safe professional teaching for students.
Steps of learning
The HKPA provides certificate courses in Parkour skills, namely Unit One and Unit Two courses. While each session lasts about 1.5 hours, each course contains ten sessions. The HKPA is the only organization in Hong Kong to provide such a course. We require the participants to give their time and effort, and they can apply for the certificate upon completion of the two courses.
The First Step
Schools can first apply for School Promotion Day held by the HKPA. The Day would include a talk, a skills demonstration and an experience session. Schools can also directly apply for the certificate course when it can provide an indoor venue and general gymnastics equipment. Schools can arrange the course to fit in a school semester, so that coaches can assess the students in school time, where the sport can be an extra-curricular activity.
